To meet with the increasing demand, the Medical Imaging (MI) Department is planning to add a new MRI (Unit # 2) at SMH, alongside the existing MRI (Unit # 1). Construction will be conducted in Phases to ensure the on-going operation of the existing MRI (Unit # 1) and by the deployment of a Mobile MRI Trailer with temporary holding Area as part of Phase 1. Phase 1: Building Permit # 1 Constructing all the civil works and infrastructure, electrical, water, power IT, existing walkway, temporary patient Holding Area and related connections to energize the MRI Mobile Trailer which comes completed with the MRI Equipment. Phase 2A + 2B: Building Permit # 2 Phase 2A: Involves the relocation and constructing new spaces for patient CT / X-Ray / Department uses and creating a new separate IT SERVER / Communications Room. Phase 2B: The constructing of new MRI Zone 2 spaces such as: patient waiting area, access washroom, hanging rooms, locker area, Stretcher Holding Area, staff WC, Radiology Office, clean supply room, soiled room, and related support spaces. Phase 3: Building Permit # 3 Constructing Zone 3: Control room areas, two Equipment / Computer rooms, patient Stretcher areas, washroom, supervisor office, Med work space, constructing two new MRI Suites (Zone 4) and related support spaces. The Project scope will also include assessments of existing electrical, HVAC, plumbing, roofing, access routes, finishes, millwork, codes and other related services to ensure the facility can meet the needs of the modern digital requirements of the MRI equipment as well as meeting current environmental standards of these units.
