Site work for a mixed-use development in Calgary, Alberta. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; water / sewer project; and sidewalk / parking lot.

TThe purpose of this Request for Proposals (RFP) is to procure the services of a qualified Proponent(s) (the Successful Proponent) for the performance of the progressive design-build services for the 6 Street SE Underpass Project, as set forth in the Agreement. The new 6 Street underpass will extend from 9 Avenue SE to 11 Avenue SE and will include a median, four traffic lanes and pedestrian walk on either side. Additionally, CPKC's new permanent tracks will be supported by a shallow profile girder 2-span bridge, similar to 4 Street SE. Plans and profiles of the preliminary design elements can be found in the FPS in Appendix E. The proposed underpass requires a stormwater lift station to transfer surface water collected from the underpass roads to the stormwater sewers. The location of the shoofly has been revised since the issuance of the FPS. This may require an adjustment of the stormwater lift station location from that identified in the FPS. The location of the shoofly will be as identified in Appendix F. The Project also includes expanding the capacity of 6 Street SE to two (2) lanes each way between 11 Avenue SE and 12 Avenue SE and the realignment of 9 Avenue SE from 5 Street SE to the main entrance into Fort Calgary. Additionally, the Project includes the installation of traffic signals, roadway illumination and the provision of sidewalks and pathways to align with current conditions, featuring a shared-use option for walking and cycling on either side of the road. Within the extent of the 6UP, there is an extensive network of existing deep, shallow and overhead utilities. Changes to the profile and alignment of 9 Avenue SE and the addition of the 6UP will impact these utilities. Other considerations include access management to adjacent properties, roadway detour considerations, railway detour considerations and lift station requirements. A staged construction approach will be required that focuses to minimize the amount and time that temporary infrastructure is needed. Other significant city building projects are planned to be underway in Victoria Park such as Green Line LRT and the new Event Centre. Coordination with adjacent projects and businesses will be critical to the success of the 6UP. QA date 4 April 2024
