Flood Mitigation - 4th Street Low Area This industrial/commercial area is located south of 5th Street NW between 8th Avenue and the railroad corridor. A 42-inch storm sewer serves the site and parcels on the block north of the site. Runoff leaving the site is directed via storm sewer through the residential area west of the site before discharging to Ramsey County Ditch 2 in Hansen Park. Low areas on this site have no overland flow route present to protect existing structures. Improvements could include the construction of an additional detention basin, the installation of a backflow prevention device, and increasing the storm sewer capacity with a larger pipe network. As of March 27, 2024, this project is included in the city’s 2024-2033 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). Construction funded for FY2024. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly.
