Renovation of a mixed-use development in Providence, Rhode Island. Completed plans call for the renovation of a elderly care / assisted living facility; and residential development.
The Housing Authority of the City of Providence Rhode Island is accepting sealed bids from qualified vendors for FIRE PUMP REPLACEMENT AT PARENTI VILLA & CARROLL TOWER located in Providence, RI. Description: Work of this Contract shall be performed by the Fire Protection Company acting as the Prime Contractor (Contractor) for the project. The Prime Contractor shall be responsible for providing performance and labor bonds and insurance for the entire project including all Fire Alarm work. The Contractor shall provide full time superintendent for the project. The project in general comprises of the removing of the existing fire pumps and associated devices in its entirety and installing new complete system in accordance with the construction documents. Upon completion, testing and acceptance of the new Systems shall be by the Providence Fire Department. Project Locations: o Carroll Tower: 243 Smith Street, Providence, RI o Parenti Villa: 25 Tobey Street, Providence, RI All pre-bid requests for information (RFIs) must be submitted in writing no later than Wednesday, January 10, 2024, by 12:00 PM, prior to when bids are due. Address all pre-bid questions or requests for information pertaining to this project and bid documents to the Providence Housing Authority's Operations Planner, Richard Quetta, via email at rquetta@provhousing.org with a Cc to Ted Rowse of Rowse Architects, Inc., at trowse@rowsearchitects.com. No RFI's will be addressed after this deadline. The RFI Response(s) will be posted to the PHA website for all potential bidders to review prior to submitting a bid. Individuals requiring interpreter services for the hearing-impaired should notify the Facilities Management Department by calling (401) 709-2201 seventy-two (72) hours prior to any event. Minority and Woman-Owned Businesses are encouraged to submit bids. Bidders will be required to make positive efforts to use small and minority-owned businesses and to offer employment, training, and contracting opportunities in accordance with Section 3 of the Housing and Urban Development Act of 1968. 1. The project in general comprises of the removing of the existing fire pumps and associated devices in its entirety. 2. Installing new complete system in accordance with the construction documents. 3. Upon completion, testing and acceptance of the new systems shall be completed by the Providence Fire Department. 4. All incidental work as required or described in the contract documents. 5. Before submitting a bid, visit and carefully examine the site to identify existing conditions and difficulties that will affect work. 6. No extra payment will be allowed for additional work caused by unfamiliarity with site conditions that are visible or readily construed by experienced observer. o Fire pump and controller. o Jockey pump and controller. o Piping, fittings, hangers and valves. o Gate valves, check valves, drain valves, fire department valves. o Preparation of complete and detailed Shop Drawings in accordance with NFPA No. 13. o Preparation of complete and detailed Working Plans. o Submitting Drawings and obtaining necessary approvals, permits and certificates. o Tests. o Securing hydrant flow test data reports. o Hydraulic calculations. o Miscellaneous steel support. o Furnish and install water flow switches and tamper switches. Flow and tamper switches shall be wired to the fire alarm system under the Electrical section of this specification.
