Redevelopment of the Toronto Fire Academy located at 895 Eastern Avenue. It is anticipated that the new facility will be larger than the current one due to the need for enlarged training prop facilities. TIMELINE: A Request For Proposals from Architectural Services has been issued by the owner. The awarded proponent will provide the Needs Assessment and Feasibility Study that are required to plan for this the project. Review of an active fire station and Paramedics classroom training facility may be included in the assessment. As part of the study, the successful proponent may be requested to review the possibility of expansion to the west into lands currently occupied by Toronto Fleet Services at 843 Eastern Avenue. The project is comprised of two components. The first is to conduct a Needs Assessment where the successful proponent will develop a building program that delivers on the needs of Toronto Fire Services. This will include research and the collection of data, consultation with identified stakeholder groups, and comparative analysis with similar facilities. The second component is to conduct a Feasibility Study that will propose a new facility constructed on the existing site using the results of the Needs Assessment as a baseline.
