Site work and new construction of a transportation facility in San Jose, California. Completed plans call for the construction of a transportation facility; and for site work for a transportation facility.
The New Facilities will be designed to be one (1) multi-story building and one (1) single-story building. Buildings will be LEED Silver certified at a minimum and will house all administration, maintenance / fleet activities, field personnel functions, and storage of materials, equipment, and vehicles adequate for the Facilities and Fleet Maintenance staff to perform their daily workloads. The Project must be connected to the existing stubbed-out utilities shown on Exhibit F "ARFF Utility As-Builts". While the RFP outlines the requirements for the construction of two(2)buildings, the City prefers Proposals that will best utilize the limited available footprint while meeting the building code requirements and FAA height restrictions. The Project's scope is to provide a functional administration area, a shops area, commission the Existing Equipment in the New Facilities as shown in Exhibit U "Existing Equipment to be relocated to the New Facilities" and other miscellaneous site elements and improvements including but not limited to installing lighting, landscaping, vehicle parking, a covered wash bay, security, fencing, a bioretention area, trash receptacles, backup generator enclosure,(2)above ground tanks, and a drive-through carwash. The Project also has scope that extends beyond the New Facilities' boundary including but not limited to:(i) demolition of the General Aviation (GA) Shelter; (ii) there alignment of the fence line at Coleman Ave., and(iii) providing utility service work for the building(s)and the site elements. - Project Labor Agreement / union only requirement. - Prevailing wage. - Local and Small Business Preference. - Disadvantaged Business Enterprise participation is encouraged.
