City of Wheat Ridge Procurement Attn: Whitney Mugford-Smith wmsmith@ci.wheatridge.co.us The City of Wheat Ridge (the "City") Municipal Building is located in the northwest Denver metropolitan area, with municipal offices at 7500 W 29th Avenue, Wheat Ridge, CO 80033. The City's area consists of about nine square miles of rolling land adjacent to Interstate 70 transportation corridor between Denver and the Rocky Mountains. The topography is somewhat unique, with a natural ridge traversing the City. The City is a suburban community of approximately 33,000 residents. The City is a home-rule municipality with eight council members, and a city manager and mayor form of government. BACKGROUND Prospect Park is a 39 acre community park located in northwest Wheat Ridge which has recently undergone significant improvements including improved parking areas, new restrooms, new and renovated sports fields and courts in addition to a new picnic shelter and several landscape improvements. The City has identified areas which require fencing to improve safety overall. Prospect Park is located at 11300 W 44th Ave., Wheat Ridge, CO 80033. SCOPE OF WORK The actual services to be performed will be determined by the City, to include--but not limited to--the following areas: o All fence materials to be off the shelf and readily available from local building material and fence suppliers. o Replace existing estate fence with new estate fence in same location. o The contractor will be responsible to call 811 for locates for the project. o The city will mark all private locates. o Concrete will be mixed with potable water only. o The concrete will be mixed with potable water and then added to each post hole as needed. No dry concrete and water mix in post holes allowed. o There is no close potable water source at Prospect Park so the contractor will be responsible to provide potable water/hose/water tank for mixing concrete. The contractor may fill a water tank with potable water at one location in the park. o The project will include a contractor provided portable concrete washout for the project. o Demolish existing fence and haul away. The contractor will remove and haul away all spoils and construction debris. o The contractor will remove any existing post concrete that is at or above grade. The contractor will also fill and compact all old fence post holes with clean topsoil to grade. o Damage will be minimized to the site, turf, asphalt, and crushed granite areas. o The entire site will be cleaned daily including all roads within the park affected by construction activities. Do not track any mud/debris onto any road or street. If tracking occurs the contactor will clean the road/street within 4 hours of the original request to the satisfaction of the city representative. o No open holes allowed over night or if the contractor is off site. o Submit north field access gate detail for approval. Gates to open into the crushed granite fines area only. Gates will include a drop rod, wheels, and a padlock device. Gate will be metal or wood/metal hybrid. o The contractor will protect the entire site and all materials from all weather and temperature damage. o The city will not accept any damaged or vandalized work. o Management of construction materials is the responsibility of the contractor. Do not leave any construction materials unattended. The contractor will replace any vandalized or stolen materials at no additional cost to the city. o Staging will be allowed from the two parking areas noted on the attached plan. Work may be done from the crushed granite area west of the north field, the pass through drive lane and the sidewalk in the entry way. All work area/vehicles/trailers will be coned/barricaded around during ongoing work. o The contractor will put down 3/4 inch plywood on the grass in the entryway when accessing the fence from the sidewalk to project the turf and irrigation from equipment damage. o Work allowed 7am-5pm M-F. No weekend or overnight work. No vehicles/ trailers on the road shoulder during non-work hours. o The contractor will be responsible to repair/pay for all city or private damage they cause. Damage to turf and crushed granite are included. o The granite fines area will be smoothed out and raked flat by the contractor as they leave the area. o The project will include traffic/safety control traffic when working onsite. Traffic control will include sidewalk closed signage, cones, and lighted barricades. The contractor will cone/lighted barricade off their entire work/staging area during the project. o Traffic, bike riders, and pedestrians will have the right of way during the project. During the project. All drive lanes will remain open and are not to be blocked during the project. o Approximate fence and gate lineal foot is 700 Ft. o Contractor to field verify all measurements. o See Estate fence detail for construction specifics.
