In July of 2021, the Canby City Council approved a site location on 2.1 acres of city owned property for construction of the Canby Area Transit Operations Facility located behind 195 S Hazel Dell Way. The current transit operations site limits the department’s ability to operate efficiently and expand with the growing needs of Canby's public transportation system. This project will provide new facilities to meet the current and future needs of the Canby transit system. The Canby Area Transit Transportation Plan of 2017 and City of Canby Council goals identified the proposed facility. The intent is to construct a modern facility to support the growth of the city’s transit programs, the expansion of alternative modes of transportation, and a transition to electric, hydrogen or other clean energy vehicles. As of September 30, 2025, per owner, this project is still on hold. It is all pending on federal funding changes with the government so they can reapply for grants with NEPA. They don't see construction starting until 2027 at the earliest if all goes well with the funding issues. Design team has been identified. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP).
