Renovation of a fire / police facility in Amherst, Massachusetts. Completed plans call for the renovation of a fire / police facility.

Amherst Police Station Roof Replacement. The Town of Amherst invites sealed bids for the Amherst Police Station Roof Replacement, 111 Main Street. The work involves completely removing the existing roofing materials down to the plywood sheathing including the ridge vents and installing underlayment, asphalt shingles, and ridge vents. Also included, if authorized by the Town is repair and replacement of portions of the existing plywood sheathing, flashing and drip edge. All questions shall be e-mailed to Simone Cristofori at cristoforis@amherstma.gov DCAMM qualifications in the Roofing Construction category will be required. DCAMM Update and Qualification forms will be required in the sealed bid packages for general bidders. Bidder selection, procedures and contract awards shall be in conformity with M.G.L. Chapter 149 Section 44A-H. State mandated prevailing wage rates must be paid according to M.G.L. Chapter 149 sections 26-27H A bid security in the form of a bid bond, cash or certified check in the amount of five percent (5%) of the bid price must accompany the bid. The form titled 'Compliance with the Town of Amherst's General Bylaw 3.55 - Responsible Employer: Public Construction Contracts' must be completed and accompany the bid. All bids must also include a signed copy of the following: non-collusion form, tax compliance certificate, certificate of authority, and bid pricing sheet. The successful bidder will be required to furnish a performance bond and a payment bond, both in the amount of one hundred percent (100%) of the contract award, not later than ten (10) working days after the award notification. Bonds will be for one (1) year and shall be renewed annually at the Contractor's expense. Wherever applicable, the conditions of Employment and Prevailing State Wage Rate, as set forth by the Massachusetts Department of Labor and Industries, as contained in specifications, shall prevail in the execution of work under this contract. This contract shall be fully performed by the Contractor by July 1, 2024, unless extended pursuant to a provision for extension contained in the contract documents at the sole discretion of the Town, and not subject to assent by the Contractor, and subject to the availability and appropriation of funds. The time limits stated in the contract documents are of the essence of the contract. In the case that the work of this contract is not certified by the Owner and/or Consultant for Substantial Completion, as defined in the GENERAL CONDITIONS, within the time established therefore, it shall be agreed and understood that the Owner may deduct from sums otherwise due and payable under the contract, the amount of Five Hundred and 0/100 Dollars ($500.00) for each calendar day after which Substantial Completion date, or authorized extension thereof, was required, up to and including the date that Substantial Completion of the Contract is certified by the Engineer. This provision shall apply, not as a penalty, but as liquidated damages. The Awarding Authority reserves the right to reject any or all bids, in whole or in part, and to waive informalities, when at its sole discretion is deemed to be in the best interests of the Town and to the extent permitted by law. Remove the existing roofing materials down to the plywood sheathing including the ridge vents and install new underlayment, asphalt shingles, and ridge vents In general, the Contractor shall supply all labor, materials, equipment, temporary protection, tools, and appliances necessary for the proper completion of the work, as required in the Specifications, in accordance with good construction practice, and as required by the materials manufacturer. The work includes, but is not limited to, the following items: 1. Supply all temporary shoring, lighting, barricades, signage, and protection necessary to protect the building areas, building systems, and building patrons and public. Maintain such protection for the complete duration of the project. 2. Supply all disposal facilities, transportation, and labor necessary to dispose of all demolished materials, dirt, and debris off-site in a legal dumping area. The Contractor shall obtain all permits necessary to transport and dispose of all materials, rubbish, and debris. 3. The Contractor shall provide all lifts, cranes, generators, and equipment necessary to perform the work. 4. The Contractor shall provide all temporary protection of new and existing construction. 5. Remove and replace existing asphalt shingle roofing systems, and associated components down to the existing roof deck. Refer to Sections 024100 - SELECTIVE DEMOLITION and 073113 - ASPHALT SHINGLE ROOFING for additional Information. 6. Install a new asphalt shingle roofing, underlayment, self-adhered modified bitumen membrane, and associated components. Refer to Section 073113 - ASPHALT SHINGLE ROOFING for additional information. 7. As directed by the Town, remove and replace areas of deteriorated roof decking as required to provide an adequate roofing substrate. Refer to Section 061000 - ROUGH CARPENTRY for additional information. 8. As directed by the Town, remove and replace flashing, counter flashing and drip edge as required to provide an adequate roofing substrate. Refer to SECTION 076200-FLASHINGANDTRIMfor additional information. 9. Perform Unit Price work as in accordance with the project specifications. Refer to Section 012200 - UNIT PRICES for additional information. 10. Perform all other miscellaneous work as required to complete the project in its entirety. 11. Complete all associated work in accordance with the project specifications. 12. Coordinate the work with that of the Owner. 13. Clean and restore all areas affected by the work.
