As of October 23, 2024, construction is expected to begin in the spring of 2027. The Engineering Division of the City of Walla Walla is currently seeking proposals from consultant teams to undertake the development and finalization of the design for Aquifer Storage and Recovery (ASR) at Well #5, as well as provide services during the subsequent construction phases. This design project involves the upgrade of City of Walla Walla Well #5 to an Aquifer Storage and Recovery (ASR) system. The existing well house is outdated and limited in size, necessitating its demolition and the construction of a new, contemporary ASR facility. During this phase, a consultant will collaborate with the City to conceptualize the well site, secure site plan approvals from the Department of Ecology and Washington Department of Health, create detailed plans and specifications, and generate bid documents. The design team must include a hydrogeologist experienced in ASR design and operation. The primary objective is to prepare the project to a shovel ready state and ready for the bid/construction phase. Consultant shall have the plans specifications and bid documents completed by no later than November 30, 2024. The method of Contractor Selection has not been Determined at this time.
