Demolition and site work for a residential development in Suffolk, Virginia. Completed plans call for the demolition of a residential development; and for site work for a residential development.
SCOPE OF WORK -The City of Suffolk ("The City") is seeking a qualified contractor to provide demolition services to the condemned structures located at 219 Clay Street, 223 Bank Street, and 374 E. Washington Street. Work shall be done in accordance with all specifications, terms, and conditions herein. The contract resulting from this IFB will contain the following language: If said work for the Final Completion for each parcel is not completed within 60 calendar days from the Notice to Proceed for each parcel, the Contractor shall be liable and hereby agrees to pay to the City as liquidated damages, and not as a penalty, the amount of two hundred fifty ($250.00) per calendar day for each and every part of a day thereafter that said work remains incomplete. The City reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to deduct liquidated damages from any outstanding amount due the Contractor. All bids in excess of one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000.00) shall be accompanied by a Bid Bond, certified check, or other acceptable security. The amount of the bid security shall be equal to five percent (5%) of the total bid amount. If the Bid Bond is not submitted with the Bid, the Bid shall be considered non-responsive. If selected for award, failure to enter into a contract agreement with the City may result in the forfeiture of the bid bond. The condemned structures to be demolished are located at 219 Clay Street, 223 Bank Street, and 374 East Washington Street. The condemned structure located at 219 Clay Street is a residential structure, 2,164 square feet that was originally built around 1905. The condemned structure located at 223 Bank Street is a residential structure, 4,028 square feet that was originally built around 1897. The condemned structure located at 374 E. Washington Street is a commercial structure, 9,600 square feet that was originally built around 1920. Questions concerning this project must be in writing and addressed to the Contract Officer stated herein; and, must be received no later than five (5) business days preceding the date that the bids are accepted.
