Renovation of a museum in Columbia, South Carolina. Completed plans call for the renovation of a museum.
This project is funded, in part, by a federal grant from the National Park Service and administered by the South Carolina Department of Archives and History (SCDAH). The Robert Mills House at 1616 Blanding Street, Columbia, SC is listed in the National Register of Historic Places and all work must be in accordance with the Scope of Work listed below that has been approved by SCDAH to be in compliance with the applicable Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Treatment of Historic Properties. The selected contractor will perform restoration work on the building's north basement elevation to include: removal of elastomeric paint finish, repair of masonry (repointing and replacement of deteriorated brick, where necessary), and application of a natural lime-wash; to perform carpentry repairs to the building's south elevation to include: removal and replacement of all deteriorated stair treads, risers, and stringers, priming and painting of new materials; and will prepare and paint all exterior wood surfaces on all elevations; and will install a new UV-light blocking system on all interior aspect of all windows; to insulate the attic level.
