Renovation of a water / sewer project in Honolulu, Hawaii. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a water / sewer project.
Project includes improvements to liquids and solids treatment and pumping facilities at the Kailua Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP), including the associated mechanical systems, electrical systems, and other appurtenances. Project includes anticipated upgraded treatment processes needed for NPDES permit requirements, which may include treatment for dieldrin, and effluent disinfection. Planning includes assessment of existing facilities, and may also include improvements needed for the effluent pump station, septage receiving, digester covers, and demolition of unused facilities. As of September 9, 2025, this project is included in the City and County of Honolulu's Fiscal Year 2025 -2030 CIP and funding for construction is allocated for FY 2026. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
