Rail and Transit Division seeks vendors for the furnishing and delivery of Other Track Material (OTM) for Rail, Special Trackwork and Timber Crossties as specified in solicitation. The Massachusetts Department of Transportation currently owns approximately 245 miles of active rail corridors, 53 miles of inactive rail property and about 90 acres of rail yards and related property. Rail and Transit Division, (Rail Division) is responsible for the care and control of the state-owned rights of way and related property. The Rail Division oversees state and Federal investment in these assets and in some cases licenses certain railroads to perform other functions, including maintenance, and ensuring compliance with Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), environmental, and state and local regulations. Additionally, the Rail Division is actively developing and will be managing a rail asset management program.
