Site work for a water / sewer project in Newcastle, Washington. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.
As of January 22, 2024, the project has been awarded and construction is expected to commence in mid-February, 2024. The project requires above-water and underwater work to repair the floating dock located in Lake Boren Park. Requested tasks include the following: o Assessing and documenting the current condition of the float freeboard, flotation cells, clump weights, clump weight chains, and associated connection framing and hardware. o Recommending repairs and procedures to bring the float freeboard, clump weights, and hardware into compliance with the specifications. Providing labor and materials for the recommended repairs. Since the actual extent of required repairs will not be known until the condition assessment is complete, bidders shall assume the repair extents and quantities shown in bid table. Note that actual repair extents and quantities will be based on a review of the recommended repairs. The Contractor will be encouraged to recommend additional repairs with the goal of extending the dock's service life. The required permits will be obtained by the City. Work cannot commence until the permits have been approved. This Invitation to Bid is being issued in accordance with RCW 35.22.620 and RCW 39.04.155, which permit the use of a Small Works Roster to solicit bids. Only qualified contractors who are registered with the Municipal Research and Services Center (MRSC) City of Newcastle roster, "Marine Construction; specifically for Dock/Wharf/Float Construction, Repair and Maintenance, and Marine Contracting" category may submit bids. Previously prepared condition assessments will be provided as part of the contract documents which have recommended this base set of work. The estimated construction cost is $86,000. Requests for an interpretation or questions must be directed via email to Davi de la Cruz at davic@newcastlewa.gov. Questions via phone or in person will not be accepted. Bidders shall submit questions no later than 5:00pm four (4) working days before the bid opening.
