This project provides for the design, right-of-way acquisition, utility relocation, and construction to widen the Route 7 roadway to three lanes in each direction between the previously widened section east of Route 9 and the Dulles Greenway. The scope of work and budget for the Route 7 Improvements, Phase 3: Route 9 to Dulles Greenway, Segment 3 project, which was included in the FY 2024 CIP Projects Identified for Future Development section has been incorporated into this project. The scope of work and budget for this project was originally included in the FY 2021 CIP project entitled Route 7 Improvements, Phase 3: Route 9 to Dulles Greenway. The project was re-segmented to be more effectively administered during the FY 2022 CIP budget development process. The project name was changed from Route 7 Improvements, Phase 3: Route 9 to Dulles Greenway, Segment 2 to Route 7 Improvements – Route 9 to Dulles Greenway – Long Term Improvements during the FY 2024 CIP budget development process. Project is in Loudoun County - Procurement capital budget FY 2025 -2030. As of August 27, 2024, per owner, Loudoun County is in the process of procuring professional services for the preparation of construction plans and other documents for the project. The project is set up for a design-bid-build delivery. It is also set up to qualify for state and federal aid. Development and approval of the construction plans and documents will take several years. Land acquisition and utility relocations will take several more years. It will be quite a while before the county starts thinking about construction. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP).
