Renovation of a multi-residential development in Grinnell, Iowa. Completed plans call for the renovation of a multi-residential development.

Bids received after the deadline for submission of bids as stated herein shall not be considered and shall be returned to the late bidder unopened. The bidder shall hold the City of Grinnell harmless for failing to meet the deadline due to delayed delivery service. Bids will be consider by the City Council at its next meeting, scheduled at 7:00 PM on December 4, 2023. Consideration of the Award of contract would subsequently occur by action of the City Council at the same meeting, or at a later date and time announced at said meeting. A public hearing will be held by the City on the proposed contract documents (including the plans, specifications, and form of contract) and estimated construction cost for the Project at its regular meeting at 7:00 PM on December 4, 2023, in the Council Chambers at 520 4th Avenue, Grinnell, Iowa. At the hearing, the City will receive and consider any objections made by any interested party, to the Plans and Specifications, proposed Form of Contract, and the Estimate of the Construction Cost for the project. The Work of the Project is defined by the Contract Documents and includes, but is not limited to, the following: Improvements to the Beyer Building at 815 4th Avenue, Grinnell, IA 50112 for residential multi-family apartments. Bids will be received for a single prime contract. No bid may be withdrawn for a period of 30 calendar days after the date of opening. Award of contract is tentatively scheduled for December 4, 2023. This project is funded, in part, by a US Treasury Department American Rescue Plan grant through the State of Iowa. Minority Owned and Female Owned Business participation is encouraged. Bidders shall make a good faith documented effort to encourage participation of minority owned and female owned businesses. This project is sales tax exempt. The Owner will issue an exemption certificate for the purchase or use of materials, supplies, and equipment that will be used in the performance of the construction contract. By virtue of statutory authority, a preference will be given to products and provisions grown and coal produced within the state of Iowa. Failure to submit a fully completed Bidder Status Form with the bid may result in the bid being deemed nonresponsive and rejected. The project shall be substantially complete by January 1, 2025. The City reserves the right to reject any or all bids, to waive informalities, and to enter into such contract, or contracts, as it shall deem to be in the best interest of the City.
