Renovation of a library in Buffalo, New York. Completed plans call for the renovation of a 12,500-square-foot library.

CR Number: 2122275 The University at Buffalo is seeking proposals from firms to provide full Construction Manager (CM) services for Project 2022-016 Joyce Exhibit at Abbott Library, located at the University at Buffalo South Campus, The State University of New York. This high-profile cultural project will create new exhibits and museum support spaces dedicated to the James Joyce Collection. This project will involve renovation of approximately 12,500sf of the first floor of Abbott Hall, including restrooms, curator office and work space, welcome desk, storage, and museum-grade mechanical, lighting, and fire-protection systems. Work will occur while the building is occupied, and it will be vital to minimize construction impact on the campus community throughout the construction duration. This is anticipated to be a single prime construction contract utilizing a Project Labor Agreement. Notice of Intent July 2025 Anticipated Contract Approval October 2025 (dependent on review time at AG/OSC) Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Set Aside: No Minority Owned Sub-Contracting Goal: 15% Women Owned Sub-Contracting Goal: 15% Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Business Contracting Goal: 6% Disadvantaged Owned Sub-Contracting Goal: 0% Contract term: 10/25 though 8/28 Construction Phase services will include but are not limited to general services, meetings, Construction MWBE & EEO services, scheduling and time monitoring, labor and safety responsibilities, Project Labor Agreement (if applicable), quality assurance, and general warranty/guarantee period services. Refer to Schedule BC-Scope of Services (Construction Phase). Submissions should emphasize the firm's significant experience in providing pre-construction and construction phase CM services for public institutions and higher education institutional clients. The Construction Manager must demonstrate experience in managing projects that require museum-grade construction standards. This includes, but is not limited to, high-quality craftsmanship, attention to detail, environmental controls (such as lighting, humidity, and temperature management), precision installation, and coordination with exhibit designers and installers.
