The WWTF has two Secondary (final) Clarifier Tanks in operation, and both of them are necessary for proper treatment at all times. As a result, there is no backup unit available during maintenance or mechanical failure. If one of the clarifiers is down, there is a high likelihood of exceeding the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit, leading to environmental degradation, negative impact on fisheries, and potential regulatory action.
