The Town of Charlestown is soliciting proposals for approximately 3,000 tons of manufactured winter sand. Sealed proposals marked Winter Sand on the envelope Proposal to include both unit prices per ton delivered and FOB price per ton, a certificate of insurance, naming the Town of Charlestown as additionally insured, covering general liability, auto liability, and workers compensation coverage. The winning bid shall have 5 business days to provide a product sample to be tested for specification conformance. Failure to provide conforming product sample will result in rejection of the bid and another bid will be chosen. The Town of Charlestown reserves the right to reject any or all proposals and to accept the proposal determined to be in the Towns best interest. All bidders shall submit sample of material along with gradation test from an approved soils lab of their proposed winter sand supply. The successful bidder shall supply approximately 3,000 tons of winter sand throughout the year to the Charlestown Highway Department at 37 Southwest Street. Gradation test shall be conducted every 500 tons at the successful bidders expense. The Towns Highway department generally keeps the winter sand supply full at all times the successful bidder is expected to have the bins restocked after each storm event. All loads shall be screened at the time of loading to eliminate snow, frozen chunks being delivered. The Town of Charlestown reserves the right to cancel any unfilled portion of the contract, providing that in the opinion of the Superintend the services of material provided by the vendor are unsatisfactory or do not consistent with the terms of the contract. The Town of Charlestown will only weigh loads during normal transfer station hours of operation. All overweight loads will be rejected.
