Lapp Land Reclamation Project is located in Washington Township of Hocking County along Griffith Road within West Branch of Raccoon Creek sub watershed. From the intersection of SR 93 and SR 56 travel North on SR 93 for approx. 1.1 miles and turn left onto North Fairview Rd (T.R. 195). Travel West on North Fairview Rd. approx. 0.2 miles and turn right onto Giffith Rd (T.R. 8). Travel North on Griffith Rd. approx. 0.9 miles and entrance to the project site is on the left side of the roadway. The closest address is 22219 Griffith Rd. Logan, Ohio 43138. Coordinates for the site are Latitude: 39.4042 & Longitude: -82.4661. The proposed project consists of approximately 27 acres of abandoned coal mine spoil located west of Griffith Road. A large pit that contains approximately 2 million gallons of AMD percolates through the spoil and then as seepage from the hillside along the coal pit floor. Surrounding the pit are dangerous steep spoil/shale piles that will be regraded to a smooth uniform finish. Post construction loading reductions at the tributaries draining the site are estimated at 50%. Major work items in this project include, but are not limited to: o Remove stumps from the logging project. o Dewatering of the dangerous impoundment. o Earthwork required to backfill impoundments and grading dangerous spoil piles. o Approved Resoil/On-site Borrow combination to provide a 1.5' soil cap on 27 acres of reclaim. o Lime and Seed and mulch site. o Tree planting
