Site work for a water / sewer project in Fort McMurray, Alberta. Completed plans call for site work for a levee.
This project is one of the permanent flood mitigation infrastructure projects the Municipality is undertaking to protect TaigaNova. This scope of work raises the existing flood protection elevation around TaigaNova and WWTP with earthen berms to an elevation of 250.9 m above sea level (mASL). The existing berm around the TaigaNova has top elevation of approximately 248 mASL and is approximately 1670 m long. The WWTP lagoon berm has a top elevation of approximately 250.4 mASL and is approximately 580 m long. The project also establishes river water backflow prevention measures at the existing TaigaNova storm pond outfall and WWTP effluent discharge outfall by means of mechanical slide gates. At the completion of this project, the flood vulnerabilities within the northern portion of TaigaNova will have been mitigated.
