The City of Garden City, Kansas (CITY) seeks competitive sealed bids for right-of-way clearing. The CITY desires to engage a licensed private tree trimming contractor to perform electrical distribution line clearing and tree removal typical to electric distribution lines and other vegetation away from electric distribution lines. The CITY prefers to work with only one contractor for all tree trimming activity; however, the contractor must show exclusion for work they cannot perform. Box 998 Garden City, KS 67846 (620) 276-1290 Contractor obligations:To supply the labor and equipment specified as necessary to provide forces capable of independently performing tree trimming along power lines and other right-or-ways belonging to the CITY. The Contractor must submit the proper ACRT Arborist Training certification to work around live energized power lines up to and including 35,000 volts, and all Contractor personnel must attend training awareness of the hazards associated with live energized power lines work at the Utility Service Center. All tree trimming work is to be accomplished in accordance with the directions of the designated representative of the CITY. Clearing of Wood Waste: It shall be the financial and physical responsibility of the contractor to dispose of all wood and wood products resulting from the pruning and removal process. The CITY shall supply a location to dispose of inert, clean wood waste or chippings. Clearing Distance: All distribution lines right-of-way must be cleared to a minimum of ten feet (1 O') from any energized conductor above fifteen (15) feet. Only side and top pruning are permitted with a minimum clearance of ten feet (10') from the energized conductors. All overhanging limbs must be removed unless there are special unsafe conditions that would prevent removal. The final decision concerning leaving overhanging limbs will rest solely with the CITY. Additional tree trimming in alleys and public rights-of-way from ground level to 15 feet high to allow for Solid Waste Utility vehicle access. . Trim specified areas for Parks and Recreation as outlined in the attachment.
