As of July 10, 2025, per owner, the 2024 Intersection Safety Project, including the Alden/O’Brian intersection is still in the Phase I stage. They need to complete the Phase I, then continue onto Phase II the design phase – before they go out to bid to award to a contractor – they are likely at least 2 or 3 years out. Design team is still to be determined, short list identified. Scope of work Each location will have a separate Project Development Report and will be processed independently through IDOT. Anticipated Work Items may include, but are not limited to the following Perform necessary survey work Perform drainage, floodplain, and wetland studies Prepare crash analysis & design traffic data Prepare all necessary reports, including Location Drainage Study Wetland Report Geotechnical Report Prepare Intersection Design Study Perform Lighting Analysis Alternatives Analysis Report Traffic Management Analysis Complete a Project Development Report McHenry County Division of Transportation desires to contract with a qualified engineering firm to assist the County of McHenry in developing Phase I Preliminary Engineering with an option for Phase II Design Engineering for safety improvements at three (3) intersections located in McHenry County. The intersections are Spring Grove Road at Miller Road, Alden Road at O Brien Road, and Maple Street at Coral Road. All work shall conform to IDOT/FHWA policies and procedures for federal aid projects and will be completed under applicable BLR and BDE Manuals.
