The work includes cleaning out a 1,200 lineal foot section of drainage channel known as the Bickett Street Ditch located in the unimproved portion of the Kill Devil Hills Bickett Street Right-ofWay and extending west from 400 W. Bickett Street. The Bickett Street Ditch is choked up with by overgrown and overhanging vegetation, downed and severely leaning & uprooted trees, and snags. The scope of work is to remove all vegetation overhanging the channel up to six feet above the bank and remove all downed and severely leaning & uprooted trees and snags from the waterway. Most of the vegetation is consistent with small diameter wax myrtles, bayberry, willows and other similar species. Leaning trees and vegetation along the bank will be cut approximately 12 to 18 inches above the ground and exposed root balls will remain in place along the shoreline as to not disturb the shoreline or soil stream bed.
