Demolition, site work, paving and new construction of a bridge / tunnel in New York, New York. Conceptual plans call for the construction of a bridge / tunnel; for site work for a bridge / tunnel; for paving for a bridge / tunnel; and for the demolition of a bridge / tunnel.
As of April 16, 2025, this project is in the environmental review phase. Although a firm timeline for construction has not been determined, construction is not expected to start prior to 2029. *The closed solicitation has been included below for reference: Amtrak is initiating the procurement to select an Architectural/Engineering firm (A/E) to perform preliminary engineering services (the Services) for the Pelham Bay Bridge Replacement Project (the Project) between in Bronx, NY. This Project will replace the existing Pelham Bay Bridge with a two track mid-level movable bridge. The new bridge will increase operating speeds, have a wider navigation clearance, and will be taller, to reduce the number of bridge openings required to accommodate marine traffic. All components of the bridge will be new; including but not limited to: New rails New Catenary System upgrades New Communications and Signal System The method of Contractor Selection has not been Determined at this time.
