This project is located in the M-16 sewershed, which discharges approximately 103MG of CSOs in a typical year as it is defined in the current system model. Additionally, there are 15 known surface streams/seeps within the park that appear to connect into the combined sewer system. The project will focus on stormwater management source control opportunities within Southside Park. The project will look at separating the stormwater runoff from the park and road right-of-way areas. It will connect through a new storm sewer discharge to be built under South 21st Street to the Monongahela River. The project will detain and slowly return the stormwater runoff to the combined sewer system. This project is included in the Pittsburgh Water & Sewer Authority’s Capital Improvement Program.
