A failed stormwater pipe and subsequent erosion has left a large hole in the south east corner of a lot on Bermuda Lane and is a major safety concern to the citizens of that area. The pipe flows south to an existing stormwater pond. When Lee County contracted to construct a roadbed through this area, the end of the pipe was inadvertently covered and blocked by the roadbed fill. This caused stormwater to back up the line and flood the roadway at the existing curb inlets. Once the issue was discovered, Lee County Public Works excavated a temporary trench through the constructed roadbed to remove the blockage and allow the stormwater to flow into the stormwater pond as it had previously. The successful bidder will be responsible for the alignment, layout and staking of the proposed new piping, inlet and manhole locations and for establishing the required pipe grades for each individual pipe section. Pipe invert elevations, manhole top elevations and grate inlet throat elevations shall also be established by the contractor with the approval of the Lee County Planning, Zoning and Engineering department and the County s stormwater consultant Mike Talley Lee County reserves the right to accept or reject any and all proposals and to waive informalities in the proposal process.
