New construction of a fire / police facility in La Crosse, Wisconsin. Conceptual plans call for the construction of a fire / police facility.
Based on building evaluations by private consultants and the adopted recommendations of the Fire Station Task Force, it is a priority to continue with replacement of Station 1. Some improvements have been made to basic gender equity however replacement of all major mechanical systems, public ADA compliance shortfalls, and apparatus mechanical support needs must be addressed. Following the design and build of Station 4, this project will also attempt to capture collaborative partnerships to provide a community meeting space and satellite police office. Current location for this project will be based on real estate availability and further study. As of November 15, 2023, this project is included the City of La Crosse's FY 2024-2028 Capital Improvement Program (CIP) and funding allotted for FY 2027 and FY 2028. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change. The content management team will continue to pursue additional details as they become available.
