The new Northern Adelphi Area High School will be a state-of-the-art educational facility located on the former Cherokee Lane Elementary School site and adjacent properties. Designed to serve 2,600 students, the high school will accommodate 2,000 comprehensive high school students and 600 Career and Technical Education (CTE) students across 22 integrated programs, including Automotive, Construction, Cosmetology, Culinary Arts, Healthcare, and Technology. Modern amenities will include a 2,600-seat gymnasium with three basketball courts, a 900-seat auditorium, a black box theater, dedicated music and dance studios, and a secure entrance vestibule. A central cafeteria atrium will serve as the heart of the school, encouraging connection and collaboration. The building will also feature sustainable design elements, including a highly efficient exterior envelope and a green vegetative roof. The project includes a new access road connecting the campus to nearby schools and plans for shared stadium facilities with the University of Maryland. The Northern Adelphi Area High School is a major investment in educational opportunity and innovation for Prince George’s County Public Schools. As of April 14, 2026, the project is in design. The construction timeline has not been released. The substantial completion timeline is scheduled for 2034.
