Macomb Wastewater Treatment Plant Improvements Bid Set A: Fine Screens and Screening Washer, West Grit Removal System, Sludge Digester Mixing and Aeration System. The WORK includes the removal of the west and east train screening equipment, west train grit chamber equipment, controls and air piping, the installation of new center flow band screens and washing compactor, the installation of a new vortex style grit removal system and a new concentrator on the existing grit washer/classifier. The WORK also includes removal of existing aeration equipment in the sludge aeration tanks and installation of new aeration equipment in the east and west aeration tanks. Major WORK items are as follows: Removal of the existing band screens, piping, controls and wiring, Removal of the existing chain and bucket grit system, air piping, controls and wiring, Selective demolition of the existing screen channels and west grit chamber, Installation of a center flow band screens, sluice system and washing compactor, Installation of a vortex style chamber and approach channel, Installation of a second concentrator on the existing grit washer/classifier, New electrical controls, motor starters, air compressor and air pot, Plant water and air lines, Removal of the existing draft tube, air pipes and bridge in the sludge aeration tanks, Removal of the draw off pipe, sludge effluent piping in sludge aeration tanks, Installation of new compressed gas mixing system in east and west aeration tank, Installation of new compressor inside a new compressor building Proposals must be accompanied by a cashier's check, certified check, or bid bond amounting to not less than 10 percent of the gross amount of the bid, made payable to the City of Macomb. The City of Macomb reserves the right to waive or not to waive any irregularities in the bids, to reject any or all bids, and to determine which is the lowest, responsive, responsible bid for the improvements. The procurement will be subject to regulations contained in the Illinois Prevailing Wage Act (820 ILCS 130), the Employment of Illinois Workers on Public Works Act (30 ILCS 570), the Illinois Works Apprenticeship Initiative (30 ILCS 559/20-20 to 20-25), the Business Enterprise Program for Minorities, Females, and Persons with Disabilities Act "BEP" (30 ILCS 575), and the "Build America Buy America" Act. Contractor shall not pay less than the prevailing rates of wages to all laborers, workmen, and mechanics performing work under this contract, and shall comply with the requirements of the Illinois Wages of Employees on Public Works Act (820 ILCS 130/1-12). The submission of a Utilization Plan for the hiring of W/MBE Contractors is required for this grant-funded project. This project carries a BEP participation goal of 10%.
