The City of Newport News is seeking bids from qualified firms (the Bidder or Contractor) to furnish the goods and/or services described herein and bids will be received via the Citys e-Procurement Portal Question Submission Deadline:November 21, 2023, 1:00 pm Questions regarding this Invitation for Bid (IFB) must be submitted in writing through the OpenGov Procurement Question/Answer Tab via the City's e-Procurement portal The purpose of this Invitation for Bid (IFB) is to solicit bids to furnish/provide labor, equipment, supervision, and materials to renovate a pocket park near the Newport News City Hall, including demolition of existing structures; drainage improvements; installation of new sidewalk, stamped concrete pad, and shade sails; and landscaping, as well as the construction of a sidewalk and handicap ramp on a nearby property. The current state of the City Hall Pocket Park located between the Newport News City Hall and the Newport News Jail includes an old wooden gazebo and a sidewalk area that does not drain appropriately. Additionally, the sidewalk along 23rd Street ends at what is now the Ironclad Distillery. Access to the adjacent City-owned parking area requires entering the street at the end of the sidewalk and then crossing into the parking lot. This project is intended to enhance the standard of the park and also connect the parking access to the sidewalk. The objectives for this project are to create an attractive lunch area adjacent to City Hall and to connect the sidewalk along 23rd Street to the adjacent parking area for easier pedestrian and handicap access.
