The scope of the risk assessment will be province-wide (people, services, infrastructure). The primary intended audience for the risk assessment will be provincial decision makers and staff of provincial departments, as well as Local Governments, Regional Service Commissions, health authorities, industry groups, the public, First Nations, and other users. This project will include external consultation such as sector-specific stakeholder engagement and further data analysis to offer an assessment that is applicable beyond the Government of New Brunswick. The Government of New Brunswick will be seeking an iterative process from the contractor to include new information if it becomes available. Analysis will draw on the most current climate change data and projections, existing literature, studies, reports, current socioeconomic data, and simulations of future socioeconomic data, as well as identify key gaps in knowledge. The risk assessment will also incorporate recent work by Government departments, local governments, communities, etc., related to climate change risk, such as but not limited to, existing regional, provincial, coastal, and flood and erosion risk assessments, and Local Government climate change vulnerability assessments and adaptation plans. Any additional information to enhance what is presently understood in the areas of coastal infrastructure, emergency management, and hazard mitigation should also be incorporated.
