The Contractor shall provide all labor and materials necessary to remove the given trees on city terraces or other city property in accordance with these plans and specifications Once removal has begun, Contractor shall remove all portions of tree from private property, city terraces, sidewalks and street as soon as possible. No portion of tree shall remain on above listed areas for more than (1) one work day without approval of Park Superintendent or Parks and Recreation Director. Stumps and surface roots must be ground a minimum of 8" below the ground level. All stump chips must be removed and black dirt used to fill the hole and leveled to match the surrounding ground. Grass seed must be raked into the dirt. All sawdust, bark and other debris must be cleaned from the terraces, yards, sidewalks and streets. The Contractor shall be responsible for notifying the Police Communications Center (754-5725), the City Engineer's office (754-5734) and Parks Superintendent (754-5755) if any street is to be blocked off for tree removal. Iowa DOT rules for working in roadway must be adhered to. Contact the City Engineer's office for information. Contractor shall be responsible for all safety precautions and equipment related to the removal of trees. Tree debris may be taken to the Marshalltown Compost Center in a safe manner not causing damage to any public street. Any tree debris lost in transportation is responsibility of Contractor to pick up. Disposal of tree waste is at Contractor's expense. Trees must be removed within six weeks of bid results. City ordinance prohibits removal of any terrace tree without permission of Parks & Recreation. Failure to abide by the rules of this agreement may result in loss of bid awards.
