Renovation of an educational facility in Matthews, North Carolina. Completed plans call for the renovation of a 116,232-square-foot, three-story above grade educational facility.

Central Piedmont Community College (CP) is seeking proposals for replacement of deteriorated thermal glazing units, masonry expansion joint sealants, and perimeter window caulking on the 3-story Giles Science Building located on its Central Campus near uptown Charlotte, NC. Description of the information and content required for your bid is attached. Evaluation of proposals will not take place at that time. Award consideration will be made no later than 30 days from the date proposals are opened The contract will be awarded to the responsible bidder whose proposal is within the competitive range and determined to be the most advantageous to CP. Price, experience, references and other factors considered. Return two (2) originals of the Proposal. Mark the return envelope: Levine Campus Building I Window Glass Repairs Your signature on the completed proposal will serve as a warranty that your bid is genuine and that this proposal is made without any connection with the same purpose and this proposal is in all respects fair and without collusion or fraud. This is a turn-key project and all taxes and fees associated with furnishing materials, labor, overhead, and permits shall be included in total not-to-exceed bid amount. If awarded, services provided under this bid shall become a one-time contract effective upon issuance of a purchase order until all work specified herein has been completed and satisfactorily accepted by CP. The contractor shall, at its own expense, procure and thereafter maintain the following kinds of Insurance with respect to this job: a. Workmens Compensation and Employee Liability Insurance is required with this contract. The required Workmens Compensation insurance shall extend to cover employers liability for accidental bodily injury or death and for occupational disease with a minimum liability of $100,000.00 b. General Liability Insurance. Bodily injury insurance, in the minimum limit of $2,000,000.00 per occurrence shall be required on the comprehensive form of policy. c. Proof of insurance is required with submission of Proposal. d. Upon award, contractor shall name CPCC as an additional insured. Please contact Lance Ollivierre, Central Piedmont Facilities Services Division at 704-968-0888 or lance.ollivierre@cpcc.edu with questions or clarifications regarding this Request for Informal Bids This project consists of removal and replacement of approximately (113) thermal insulated glazing units with failed thermal seals in the 3-story, 116,232 SF Levine Building 1 located on the Levine campus in Matthews, NC. Alteration or replacement of existing aluminum window frames is excluded from this scope of work. All replaced thermal glazing units shall match existing in terms of dimension, glass thickness, color, and Low-E rating. Installation of new interior/exterior perimeter gaskets is required with all new thermal units. All Bidders are encouraged to visit the project site to inspect and verify existing conditions relative to this request prior to submitting a bid. Each bidder shall include in their bid a unit price to replace each glass type and size as well as an unspecified allowance in the amount of $10,000.00. This unspecified allowance shall be included in the Bidders overall bid price tabulation. Note: Each Bidder is responsible for field verifying exact extent of work scope prior to bidding. WARRANTY In addition to any applicable manufacturer product warranties, the Bidder shall warrant all labor, materials, and workmanship for not less than one (1) year from project installation and acceptance by Owner. Each Bidder shall have been in business a minimum of five (5) years and be skilled and experienced in the latest techniques of commercial signage design, fabrication, and installation. Each Bidder must submit a list of at least three (3) completed projects of similar size and scope including contact person, email, and telephone number. Central Piedmont has established a ten percent (10%) goal for participation of Historically Underutilized Business (HUB) in subcontracting opportunities on this project. Each bidder is required to solicit HUB participation and submit the required documentation of good faith efforts made with their bids. (See Exhibit 3 for HUB forms to be submitted with each bid.) Work shall be commenced upon receipt of a Notice-to-Proceed from the Colleges designated Project Manager. It is the Colleges intent to have the Contractor execute this scope of work within (90) days of the Notice-to-Proceed date. Supply chain and other legitimate delays shall be considered by the College in evaluating Contractor requests for extensions of this time. The Owner will consider all bids and alternates and determine the lowest responsible, responsive bidder. Upon notification of being the apparent low bidder, the bidder shall then file within 72 hours of the notification of being the apparent lowest bidder, the following: An Affidavit (C) that includes a description of the portion of work to be executed by minority businesses, expressed as a percentage of the total contract price, which is equal to or more than the 10% goal established. This affidavit shall give rise to the presumption that the bidder has made the required good faith effort and Affidavit D is not necessary; OR If less than the 10% goal, Affidavit (D) of its good faith effort to meet the goal shall be provided. The document must include evidence of all good faith efforts that were implemented, including any advertisements, solicitations and other specific actions demonstrating recruitment and selection of minority businesses for participation in the contract Each proposal shall be accompanied by a cash deposit or a certified check drawn on some bank or trust company, insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, of an amount equal to not less than five percent (5%) of the proposal, or in lieu thereof a bidder may offer a bid bond of five percent (5%) of the bid executed by a surety company licensed under the laws of North Carolina to execute the contract in accordance with the bid bond
