MCCOA is accepting design/build bids for a new senior center, located in Lindside WV. The facility will be used to house MCCOA administrative staff, and support senior dining and meal preparation services. Construction period: January - June 2024. The Monroe County Council on Aging (MCCOA), a 501c(3) non-profit corporation, currently operates 4 senior centers and provides county-wide senior services, to include meals, in-home services, and transportation. These senior centers are located in Lindside, Alderson, Union, and Greenville. MCCOA plans to construct a new facility at Lindside for MCCOA staff and to support senior services operations, senior dining, and meal preparation for county-wide distribution. Description: Construct a single story, senior center, approximately 4,000 - 5,000 square feet. Upon completion, MCCOA will move furniture, office equipment, kitchen equipment, tables, etc., from the old facility to the new facility. Entrances - 3 o Main entrance - for senior access to the building. No steps, roofed porch, drive up/drop off, handicapped/wheel chair accessible, safety rails and lighting. Location - situated so that seniors can enter the dining space/multipurpose room or and meet with staff members, counselors, etc. Ensure adequate wall space for coat racks, bulletin boards, announcements, etc. o Staff entrance - roofed porch, no steps, enter into office space separate from senior entrance. o Kitchen entrance - no steps, roofed porch, solid surface for wheeled carts, accommodate drive-up deliveries/meal pick-up Driveway o Circular, arranged to allow drive-up access to main entrance and kitchen entrances. o Use current entry from Rt 219 o Accommodate handicapped parking closest to the senior center. o Parking will allow access the all 3 entrances.
