Site work for a power facility in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Design plans call for site work for a power facility.
WSA owns and operates the East Side Pumping Station (ESPS), situated on the east side of Gardiner Dam and pumps water from Diefenbaker Lake into the M1 Canal. Additional pumps have been added to the station since it was originally constructed. The 4160V and 600V switchgear and MCC panels to run the four irrigation pumps are located around the perimeter of the building where there is available space. This presents congestion and electrical safety issues as the non-QEW workers who operate the pumps are in close proximity to the switchgear. Work is in progress to construct a new 72 kV substation as the existing substation is end-of-life and under capacity. The new substation should be in service prior to the start of the 2025 irrigation season and will be constructed northwest of the ESPS. The old substation is immediately northwest of the ESPS and will be demolished once the new substation energized, commissioned, and operational. WSA would like to install a modular pre-wired shop-outfitted E-house on the land formerly occupied by the old substation. This would be a modular steel framed, steel-clad building with it's on HVAC System. The location is 110 km south of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on Highway 219. TIMELINE: Design is underway. A total of two tender packages are expected spring 2025: (1) Design and supply of E-house; and (2) Installation of E-house and balance of work on site. *Budget is unreleased.
