The Manchester VA Medical Center is located at 718 Smyth Road, Manchester, NH 03104. Building 1 was constructed in 1948. The primary goal of this construction project is to replace the two air-cooled chillers outside of the building 1 penthouse. The chillers were previously replaced in 2004 and new 6" O chilled water risers were installed recently. The proposed construction will replace the existing chillers with two 175-tonYork YLAA200 Chillers. Larger chillers require upsizing electrical, structural, and existing primary chilled water pumps P-1 and P-2. This report documents the detailed replacement design with a proposed piping layout, temporary chiller location, and phasing plan. The new chilled water primary loop will connect to the existing buffer tank on the roof. A new bypass with valves will be installed to isolate the tank if required. In addition to replacing the chillers, the secondary chilled water loop will be upgraded. The existing pumps P-4, P-5, P-6, and P-7 will be demolished and replaced with two larger pumps. The proposed phasing plan is in the design approach section of AE narrative. Dumbwaiter will be removed for use of electrical conduit chase. *The value for this project is based on a financial range.
