Gaston County Schools is soliciting bids from qualified Single Prime Contractors to provide construction services for an interior renovation project at Hunter Huss High School located at 1518 Edgefield Avenue, Gastonia, NC 28052. The area to be renovated is approximately 2,500 square feet and entails conversion of an existing classroom space into a new cosmetology lab in support of the school s growing Career and Technical Education (CTE) program. The new cosmetology lab will include separate spaces for the cosmetology studio, a cosmetology classroom, as well as dispensary/storage spaces, a new single occupant restroom, and reception space. The architect and engineering team for the project is Little Diversified Architectural Consulting, Inc. located in Charlotte, NC. Due to the unique nature of the cosmetology lab versus the existing classroom space the project will include several upgrades to MEP systems in the vicinity of the project including but not limited to: (a) pulling additional electrical power to the space from the buildings main MEP plant and the setting of a new electrical panel, (b) providing a new rooftop dedicated outdoor air ventilation system and exhaust fans serving the space, and (c) extending domestic water supply to the space serving multiple new plumbing fixtures. The project also includes interior finishes and space layout modifications. Bid security, in the amount of five (5) percent of the bid amount, shall be submitted with each bid. The responses to all questions received from registered Bidders will be distributed to all registered Bidders no later than Monday December 4, 2023 at 4:00 p.m. EST. Bidders are to adhere to applicable provisions of Chapter 8 of the General Statutes of the State of North Carolina and the provisions of North Carolina General Statutes GS-143, including guidelines for single-prime contracting options and minority business enterprise participation, shall be observed in letting and executing the work.
