Renovation of a playground / park / athletic field in Anoka, Minnesota. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a playground / park / athletic field.
Reconstruction of the tennis and pickleball courts Deep cracking in the bituminous has caused playability issues and areas that could cause injury to players. In 2018 when we added the pickleball courts, staff worked with local athletic court contractor Upper Midwest Athletic Construction to repair the existing surface cracks in the tennis courts with an epoxy product that was supposed seal the cracks extending the life of and improving the playability the courts. Within 1 year, reflective cracking was occurring. After 5 years, the epoxy has failed. Cracks are worse than in 2018. In additon, there appears to be only 1" of bituminous for the court surface. Staff recommends a full removal, soil reclamation, and reconstruction. As of November 5, 2024, this project is no longer moving forward. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
