Site work, renovation and addition to a medical facility in Coquitlam, British Columbia. Conceptual plans call for the addition of a medical facility; and for the renovation of a medical facility.
Possible renovation and new addition or a potential new build with a connection to the main facility within the existing site. The new facility's gross floor area is approximately 1,500 m2 and is envisioned to integrate with existing support services on the FPH site. The Functional Program to be provided to the successful proponent at the project outset. The Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) will be a specialized 9-bed high secure, high intensity, low stimulation inpatient unit specifically designed to serve the needs of FPH's complex mental health and substance use patients, as well as correctional inmates who are transferred temporarily for treatment under the BC Mental Health Act. TIMELINE: Request for Proposal for a prime architectural consultant to provide BCMHSUS Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit Business Plan has closed. Preferred proponent is unreleased. The Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA) and BC Mental Health and Substance Use Services (BCMHSUS) are in early planning for a provincial addiction and mental illness Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit at the Forensic Psychiatric Hospital (FPH). The Project comprises the planning and schematic design of the PICU suitable for business planning. The intent is to guide the selection and complete the schematic design of suitable spaces for a possible renovation and new addition or a potential new build with a connection to the main facility within the existing site. Further update in summer 2025, pending budget approvals. Budget estimate is unconfirmed.
