The new facility's gross floor area is approximately 1,500 m2 and is envisioned to integrate with existing support services on the FPH site. The Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) will be a specialized 9-bed high secure, high intensity, low stimulation inpatient unit specifically designed to serve the needs of FPH's complex mental health and substance use patients, as well as correctional inmates who are transferred temporarily for treatment under the BC Mental Health Act. The Project comprises the planning and schematic design of the PICU suitable for business planning. The intent is to guide the selection and complete the schematic design of suitable spaces for a possible renovation and new addition or a potential new build with a connection to the main facility within the existing site.
