Qualified Contractors to provide on-call, as-needed, hourly rental of equipment with operators and personnel to perform general maintenance repair operations, incidental construction, and critical/urgent repair work in various locations, on primary and secondary routes, located within Roanoke, Botetourt and Craig Counties (Salem Residency). SCOPE OF WORK: The Contractor shall provide equipment, qualified operators, laborers, flaggers, supervision, fuel, tools, parts, supplies and incidentals, small equipment and materials, as necessary, for the safe and efficient operation of the equipment listed to perform incidental highway construction, repair operations, maintenance/maintenance replacement work, and critical/urgent work as requested by the Contract Administrator or designee. Work may include but is not limited to: Clearing, grubbing and minor tree removal associated with a project Constructing cul-de-sacs Flattening slopes to improve sight distances Lowering over-vertical curves and sections of roadway Raising the grades of roadways to alleviate drainage problems Removing rock outcroppings Widening fill slopes and shoulders Spot widening and minor restoration of roadways Replacing existing drainage pipes Pipe flushing and cleaning Minor incidental concrete work associated with a project Repairing minor slough areas on slopes Excavating and repairing beds for box culvert and bridge abutment installations Backfilling box culvert and bridge abutment installations Excavating and repairing soft spots in roadways Constructing and lengthening turning lanes Erosion and Sediment Control installation and maintenance Other safety project An optional virtual prebid conference will be hosted by the Contract Officer. The purpose of this conference is to allow potential bidders an opportunity to present questions and obtain clarification relative to any facet of this solicitation. While attendance at this conference will not be a prerequisite to submitting a bid, bidders who intend to submit a bid are encouraged to attend. The conference will begin promptly at the time indicated. At the start of the conference the Contract Officer will conduct an attendance roll call to identify the individuals participating. Participants will be requested to provide their individual name, company name and contact information during the roll call. Any questions regarding this invitation for bid shall be addressed to Shonda Fowler at shonda.fowler@vdot.virginia.gov . The issuing office shall determine whether any addendum should be issued as a result of any questions. Provide questions by December 9, 2023. PERIOD OF CONTRACT: The initial term or period of the contract shall be for a one (1) year period with the effective date to be determined at time of award with four (4) optional one (1) year renewals.
