Interior Doors and Hardware Replacement at Two (2) School Buildings As part of its maintenance and general security program, Amherst County desires to replace a total of approximately 172 doors and 280 door hardware in (2) of its school buildings. 1.2 The two (2) schools in which doors are to be replaced include: A. Monelison Middle School; 257 Trojan Road, Madison Heights, VA 24572 o 172 Doors (Doors and Hardware) B. Madison Heights Elementary School; 287 Learning Lane, Madison Heights, VA 24572 o 108 Doors (Hardware only) Bid Bond Each bid submitted shall be accompanied by a bid bond in the amount of five percent (5%) of the total bid amount, from a surety company selected by the bidder that is authorized to do business in Virginia, as a guarantee that if the contract is awarded to the bidder, the bidder/contractor will enter into the contract for the work mentioned in the bid. Performance Bond The successful bidder shall provide Amherst County with a performance bond in the sum of the contract amount conditioned upon the faithful performance of the contract, in strict conformity with the plans, specifications and conditions of the contract. Payment Bond The successful bidder shall provide Amherst County with a payment bond in the sum of the contract amount. The bond shall be for the protection of claimants who have and fulfill contracts to supply labor or materials to the prime contractor to whom the contract was awarded, or to any subcontractors, in furtherance of the work provided for in the contract, and shall be conditioned upon the prompt payment for all materials furnished or labor supplied or performed in the furtherance of the work. INSURANCE REQUIREMENTS The contractor shall procure, maintain, and provide proof of insurance coverages for injuries to persons and/or property damage as may arise from or in connection with the work performed on behalf of Amherst County by the contractor, his agents, representatives, employees, or sub-contractors. Such coverages shall be maintained by the contractor for the duration of the contract period. License If in a business or profession required to be licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia, you must provide your state contractor's or professional certificate number. The Owner reserves the right to cancel and terminate a contract at any time, without penalty, for unsatisfactory product quality and/or service on the part of the contract holder, in the sole judgment of the Owner, or when Owner determines the cancellation to be in the best interest of the Owner. Repeated delayed or partial deliveries and returns for inadequate, damaged, or spoiled products shall be interpreted as failure to meet contractual obligations and may cause cancellation of the contract. Upon receipt of notice of termination, the Contractor shall cease all deliveries or services unless advised by the Owner to do otherwise. In the event of termination, the contractor shall be compensated for those deliveries or services provided to the satisfaction of the Owner as of the date of termination.
