This system will include high pressure and temperature flow system, reactors, preheaters and control systems for temperatures, pressures and flows in different parts and will be in line with a high-performance liquid chromatography to enable the recipients to carry out researches related to water (D2O) chemistry in CANDU reactors. The system will help to increase the lifetime of reactors and for new small modular reactors, this may result in better performance. It will also help doing organic chemistry under hydrothermal conditions which can open new areas of chemistry research opportunities at the University of Guelph. By obtaining a flow SCWR system, this consortium of researchers is looking at meeting the following objectives: a) Flowing the liquid solutions and gases in a flow line through a high temperature and pressure flow reactor and then furtur to sampling station that can be connected to the HPLC system. b) Building a stable and user-friendly platform. c) Developing new hydrothermal processes to increase the efficiency of nuclear reactors, and the synthesis of polymer precursors and other organic compounds via hydrothermal reactions.
