Question Deadline 12/13/2023 at 3:00 PM CT Deadline to submit questions in Bonfire online, No questions will be responded thru district email or by phone call. The Board of Education of School District U-46, Kane County, Illinois, hereby gives notice that sealed lump sum bids will be received for the REBID of the Intercom/Clock System Replacement at Ronald D. O'Neal Elementary School, Project No. 1405. The work includes the replacement of the intercom/clock system and all associated work at Ronald D. O'Neal Elementary School, 510 Franklin Blvd., Elgin, Illinois 60120. Refer to Drawings and Project Manual for full extent of the work required. CONSTRUCTION BONDS REQUIRED: Upon award of Contract, a Performance Bond and Material & Labor Payment Bond will be required from the General Contractor for 100% of the contract sum, payable to the Owner. PREVAILING WAGE LAW: This project is subject to the Illinois Prevailing Wage Act (820 ILCS 130). PREQUALIFICATION PROCEDURE: All interested bidders are required to complete an AIA Document A305 Contractor's Qualification Statement and submit them with all bidding documents at the time of bid. Refer to Form of Bid for all required bid documentation. Receipt of a Bid Bond of ten percent (10%) of the amount of the base bid(s), (including all alternates and allowances) or a Cashier's Check made payable to School District U-46, is required prior to the time of the virtual bid opening. Contractor shall send the original Bid Bond or Cashier's Check to Plant Operations' Office (School District U-46 Plant Operations Office, located at 1460 Sheldon Dr., Elgin, Illinois 60120, Attn: Danise Smith) via Certified mail, UPS, or FedEx to ensure confirmed delivery prior to the Bid Opening. If Contractor has an electronic certification process, then they will be able to upload the Bid Bond into the bidding portal. Bids will not be accepted without a Bid Bond / Cashier's Check at Bid Opening. These can be dropped off Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. CT. All vendors who have obtained Bid Documents through the District's Bid Portal (Bonfire) and are on the Plan Holders List will receive an invite via email to the public bid opening conducted by School District U-46. Invite will be sent to the email provided for the Plan Holders List. The existing intercom/clock system needs to stay operational until Summer Break begins. The Intercom/Clock Contractor will need to perform their work as follows: o During the school season, work to be performed 2nd shift and can work 1st shift during school holidays and days when school is not in session. o Only work on the 2nd floor can take place before school is out of session for summer break. o Intercom/Clock Contractor cannot start installation of new Intercom/Clock system and cabling on first floor before July 1, 2024. Coordinate with the Ceiling General Contractor working under a separate contract. o The 1 st floor ceilings will be replaced during the summer break period under a separate contract. All 1st floor existing intercom/clock device sshall be removed prior to the 1st floor ceilings being demolished (refer to paragraph below**). Do not install any new intercom/clock systems on the 1st floor prior to the 1st floor ceiling being demolished by other contractor. **The Intercom/Clock Contractor will need to coordinate their work with the Ceiling General Contractor (under a separate contract) prior to any 1st floor device demolition work and new work. Both the General Contractor and the Intercom/Clock Contractor must coordinate their construction schedules in advance of performing any work so that old intercom/clock system devices can be safely removed, and new intercom/clock systems can be safely installed without receiving any damage from any ceiling demolition work or new ceiling work being performed
