Reference Number 0000260651 Manitoba Hydro requires the services of a quantity surveyor to provide cost estimates for renovations and new construction projects, and to provide an independent third-party assessment of contractor claims. It is anticipated the term of the Contract will be one three (3) year term, with the possibility to extend for an additional two (2) one (1) year terms based on mutual agreement between contracting parties. Manitoba Hydro, through its Corporate Facilities Department, is responsible for and maintains more than two million square feet of mostly office and industrial space throughout the province. As infrastructure ages and business requirements change, Manitoba Hydro is regularly renovating, expanding or building new structures at various locations. In order to achieve goals in terms of cost effectiveness, Manitoba Hydro intends to engage a Quantity Surveyor Services firm to provide impartial cost estimating services that will achieve the following: (a) More timely cost information at the feasibility stages of a project, saving Manitoba Hydro effort and resulting in better decision-making and more efficient use of resources. (b) More cost-effective decision making throughout a project, evaluating the cost impact of contemplated project changes during construction, without distracting and incurring costs from the contractor. (c) Construction Management contract claims are reasonable, protecting Manitoba Hydro from over-priced change orders. (d) Better project cost control, by checking contractor claims to protect against over-pricing, and to provide a basis for disputing over-priced claims. Consultant shall maintain Professional Liability Insurance in the minimum amount of ($1,000,000) (CAD). If such coverage is afforded through a Claims-Made style of policy, then such insurance shall be maintained in force at all times during the term of the Agreement and for a period of two years thereafter for services completed during the term of the Agreement.
