The Project consists of but not limited to: Removal and replacement of the existing asphalt shingle roofing systems and removal and replacement of the existing low slope roofing systems with new modified bituminous roofing, including removal and replacement of associated sheet metal flashings and gutters. General bids shall be accompanied by a bid deposit that is not less than five (5%) of the greatest possible bid amount and made payable to the Town of Shirley. The cost for Labor & Materials Payment Bond and Contract Price Performance Bond shall be included with the Bid price and shall be for 100% of Contract price. Selection of the Contractor will be based upon bidder qualifications as outlined in the specifications, including evidence of past performance projects of similar size, scope, complexity and cost. Bidders shall be a company specializing in asphalt shingle and modified bituminous roofing installation with a minimum 5-yrs experience, completing at least 3 projects of similar size and scope. The contract will be awarded to the bidder deemed by the awarding authority to be the lowest responsible and eligible bidder. General bidders must be certified by the Division of Capital Asset Management and Maintenance (DCAMM) in Roofing. All bidding Requests for Information shall be submitted online by 6/26/2024 at 5:00PM for general bids. Bids are subject to M.G.L. c.149 44A-J & to minimum wage rates as required by M.G.L. c.149 26 to 27H inclusive. PROJECT IDENTIFICATION AND DESCRIPTION OF WORK A. Project Identification: The name of the Project on the Contract Documents is CENTER TOWN HALL & HAZEN MEMORIAL LIBRARY ROOF REPLACEMENTS Town of Shirley 3 Parker Road, Shirley, MA 01464 3 Keady Way, Shirley, MA 01464 B. Work in this Contract shall include, but is not limited to the following items. Base Bid: 1. Remove existing asphalt shingle roof roofing and underlayment down to the existing sheathing. 2. Evaluate existing sheathing for replacement. 3. Install new underlayment and asphalt shingle roof system. 4. Install new flashing as required. 5. Remove and replace existing sheet metal gutters. 6. Removal and replacement of existing membrane roof system, strip existing roof down to the metal deck. 7. Add new insulation and coverboard to achieve R-31.25 rating at low slope roof areas. 8. Repair existing EPDM located installed on wall. 9. New metal panel siding at walls adjacent to slow sloped roof. 10. Remove and replace roof drains on membrane roof.
