The purpose of the RFP is to select a professional architectural design firm to provide the City with design services for the City's Police Department Locker Room Improvement Project. The City recently received a grant allocation from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity in the amount of $250,000 that will be used to fund these improvements. In total, the City is seeking to utilize a project construction budget of approximately $350,000. The intent of this project is to fit within this construction budget and not to complete full renovations. The selected design firm will assist the City in first developing conceptual design materials which will include cost estimates to confirm project scope prior to proceeding with final design. Currently, the City has identified a preliminary project scope to include demolition, minor renovations (doors, frames, other accessibility ideas), existing locker refurbishment, HVAC adjustments, and some plumbing & electrical rework. Currently, the grant funding requires expenditures be submitted by June 30, 2024. Included within the RFP package is a detailed project timeline. Professional architectural design services include, but are not limited to, the development of conceptual design, final design and construction documents, bidding documents and bid process support, and project construction oversight. Additionally, the selected firm will be expected to collaborate with City staff, which may include, but is not limited to, the Public Works Department, Police Department, and the Community Development Department. The firm may also be required to present designed plans to City Boards and Commissions which may include, but are not limited to, the Public Works Committee and City Council. The method of Contractor Selection has not been Determined at this time.
