Renovation of a municipal facility in Aberdeen, South Dakota. Completed plans call for the renovation of a municipal facility.
Project: Tuckpoint exterior masonry and sheet metal repair on the Brown County Courthouse 111 SE 1st Avenue, Aberdeen, South Dakota. Project to finished on or before October 25, 2024. Envelopes containing bids shall be addressed to the Brown County Auditor, 25 Market Street Suite 1, Aberdeen, South Dakota 57401 and be marked on the envelope; "Brown County Tuckpointing/Metal Repair" to be opened on December 19, 2023. Proposal Guaranty: No proposal will be considered unless accompanied by a certified check, a cashier's check or bank draft, for 5% of the amount of the bid, such check to be issued by either a state or a national bank and payable to Brown County, or in lieu thereof a bid bond for 10% of the amount ofthe bid, such bond to be issued by a surety company authorized to do business in South Dakota and payable to Brown County. Performance Bond: Brown County will give notice to the successful bidder that the proposal has been accepted and said bidder shall within ten (10) days thereafter enter into a contract with Brown County and furnish a performance bond in an amount equal to the contract price. The Brown County Board of Commissioners reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids that they deem to be in the best interest ofBrown County, and to waive informalities or irregularities therein. Brown County is exempt from all Federal Excise and State Sales Tax. Brown County is currently seeking bids for all labor, materials, tools, and equipment required to: Tuckpoint exterior masonry and sheet metal repair on the Brown County Courthouse building located at 111 SE 1st Avenue, Aberdeen, South Dakota 57401. TOWER BELFRY LEVEL: Remove brick masonry from either side of embedded steel columns to expose the steel. Remove pack rust build up and prepare steel to receive coatings. Apply rust inhibiting zinc primer and epoxy topcoat to steel columns. Lay-up replacement brick to conceal the newly refurbished steel columns within the masonry assembly. A vertical control joint will need to be incorporated in front of the steel columns. Control joint shall have a closed cell backer rod and polyurethane sealant installed to create a flexible joint. Check and repoint cracked, damaged, or severely deteriorated mortar joints within the brick and limestone masonry assembly. Replace rotted wood ceiling boards where needed and prepare ceiling for paint. Apply two (2) coats of new paint to match existing color. TOWER EXTERIOR MASONRY: One Hundred percent (100%) solid cut and repoint all exterior mortar joints within the tower limestone assembly. New mortar shall be Type O PCL. Remove individual limestone units that have shifted out of plane with the surrounding assembly. Reinstall limestone to their original locations to a plumb, level, and flush condition. Perform restoration cleaning to all the tower limestone using the gentlest means possible in order to remove the heavy microbial and environmental deposits from the stone. Testing will occur prior to cleaning to determine the best approach. At all skyward facing stone joints, install a so O joint composed of closed cell-backer rod and polyurethane sealant and cover the joints with a 1" wide lead-tee caps. TOWER EXTERIOR SHEET METAL: Perform selective and minimally invasive repairs to all tower exterior sheet metal components. Replacement metal shall be minimally invasive as possible to maintain original materiality if possible. Missing or damage ornamental components shall be replicated/replaced or repaired and reinstalled. Metal components shall be re-painted after repairs are completed. Metal colors to match existing as best as possible. Bird netting to be replaced on the four (4) corners at clock level. Add Alternate 1: Tower Sheet Metal, Dome and Statue Painting - Selective -Provide add alternate to selectively refinish the exiting sheet metal components on the tower and dome, as well as the existing coating on the Lady Justice statue. Color samples are to be provided and applied to the existing metal to allow for review and approval of proposed color matches. Add Alternate 2: Tower Sheet Metal, Dome, and Statue Painting - Full Repainting -Provide add alternate pricing to completely prepare and repaint all exterior tower sheet metal components on the tower and dome, as well as the existing coating on the Lady Justice statue. Color samples are to be provided and applied to the existing metal to allow for review and approval of proposed color matches. The contractor must arrange for a pre-site visit to walk around all areas of the building, and to make known the local conditions under which the work is to be performed; and has correlated his observations with the requirements of the proposed contract.
