The purpose of this Request for Proposal is to select one (1) qualified Proponent to enter into Contract (Appendix A) with the Providence Health Care ("PHC") to upgrade the Mount Saint Joseph Hospital's ("MSJ") existing fire alarm system by replacing outdated fire alarm detectors, pull stations, annunciators, I/O modules and signaling devices with the existing manufacturer's latest addressable devices (the "Project"). The Project also reconfigures the fire alarm control panels network system to incorporate a new operator interface computer terminal. MSJ is located at 3080 Prince Edward Street, Vancouver, British Columbia. The Project will involve replacing and upgrading the MSJ's existing fire alarm system, the work includes but is not limited to project management, site supervision, provision of all equipment and services as per the Specifications and Drawings, testing of hazardous materials as deemed necessary by the Contractor, removal of Project-related hazardous materials, infection control and dust control, modification of existing equipment, ULC-rated fire stopping for all openings, provision of seismic anchorages, demolitions, modifications, and additions, and testing, commissioning, and training. Providence Health Care requires a qualified Contractor to upgrade Mount St. Joesph's Hospital's existing fire alarm system by replacing the outdated fire alarm detectors, pull stations, annunciators, I/O modules, and signalling devices with the existing manufacturer's latest addressable devices. The Project will also reconfigure the fire alarm control panels network system to incorporate a new operator interface computer terminal, as shown on the Drawings. Most of the existing Fire Alarm system equipment is over 25 years old and is at the end of its useful life. Johnson Controls Inc, the manufacturer, has indicated that the existing system is no longer supported, and replacement parts will not be readily available. The new system will be networked as the existing one, which includes a main fire alarm control panel & 4 transponders, one at each level. The existing remote annunciator near the main entrance will be replaced with a new one. New LCD annunciators will be installed for each patient care area to replace the existing panels. Existing wiring will be retained and re-used. Some new wiring is to be provided. Existing firefighter phones & associated wiring will remain unchanged and will be incorporated into the new system. The existing system will be upgraded using new compatible Simplex fire alarm components that the Owner has pre-purchased from JCI. The equipment supplier will supply fire alarm equipment, testing and verification. The Contractor will utilize the pre-purchased equipment & services (i.e., Owner supplied) and provide all required site works to complete the Project.
